Vesak Day falls on 9 May this year. On this day, many buddhists visit the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple (观音堂佛祖庙 or 四马路观音堂) to pray to Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy; 观音) for good luck.

Besides offering joss sticks to Guan Yin, many buddhists also buy flowers (e.g. lotus flowers) from stalls outside the temple and offer them to Guan Yin.
