Pork Rib Soup with Sea Cucumbers

Sea cucumber is known to lower high blood pressure. Last week, my chef prepared this yummy and nutritious soup with pork ribs, sea cucumbers, fish balls, dried abalone and coriander.

To remove the raw odour of the sea cucumbers, my chef stir fried the sea cucumber [with chopped ginger and Shaoxing wine (or other Chinese cooking wine)] first before adding them into the soup.

You may like to refer to Y3K's interesting post about sea cucumbers.

I haven't tasted a sea cucumber before (or maybe I already did but never noticed). How does it taste? :)

One of my favourite seafood!! But it's a torture to wait days for it to soften submerge in water :(

indrani: oh i see. :)

mel & bluedreamer: Since it was treated with ginger and the wine, it has a combination of both tastes. If not treated, it will have some raw taste. I like to dip it in chilli & soy sauce. ;p

lisachaos & tiaras and tantrums: Ha ha. Esp when pork is mixed with a seafood.

napaboaniya: ć…ˆè‹ŠćŽç”œ!

little inbox: Yup. ;)

dez & sue: Enjoy!

katztales: My chef calls it "worm"....ha ha.

zj: Hee hee. I know some dishes also but too lazy to prepare. ;p
