p.s.: The above shown Nian Gao is made using a Koi-shaped mould.
Nian Gao which is a glutinous rice cake, is a popular traditional Chinese New Year delicacy. There are different types of Nian Gao available in the Asian countries and in Singapore, the most common type is the one made with brown sugar. This sweet rice cake can be consumed by slicing it and then either steam or pan fry the slices.

Haha.. the cat is so cute with the "fake" fish :)
Cats nowadays are being fed with cat food, even strays!I've seen it around the blocks I live. Nobody gave them fishes anymore!
I think my cats would like it, but me too ! I am sure I could find this in China town in London. They have everything there.
I bet that cat is really wishing for a real fish. Cute and interesting post!
Happy RT, and thanks for stopping by.
B.
Very interesting post. I would love to taste a piece of that rice cake.
Hmmm.... Sounds tasty, even if the cat doesn't like it :O)
With so much Red, you can't miss the Nian Gao !
Here, on France, we call the Goldfish a "poisson rouge", a red fish.
Happy Ruby Tuesday
Very creative mold shape.

The black tail and accents remind me of our Rigby, laying down and making demands just like a cat. And ours would say the same thing about that 'fish'!
