Hong Yi Vegetarian Food

Located at Blk 347 Jurong East Ave 1, this vegetarian stall sells a number of yummy vegetarian dishes.
One of my favourite dishes is their vegetarian Lor Mee which has a generous serving of ingredients!
We have tried vegetarian chicken rice from a few stalls and this ("Vegetarian Fragrance Rice") is the best! The rice is cooked with ginger juice and the ingredients include vegetarian chicken drumstick, cucumbers and Chinese parsley. Two slices of vegetarian duck meat (placed besides the cucmbers) are also included.

Yong Tau Foo @ Food More
Come across this nice Yong Tau Foo stall at the Food More outlet located at Ten Mile Junction. Operated by Sheng Shiong Supermarket, Food More has a number of stalls selling cheaper meals as compared to those available at other food courts.
At this Yong Tau Foo stall, each piece of Yong Tau Foo item costs SGD0.40. A typical bowl of Yong Tau Foo (with 5 items & rice/noodles/bee hoon) costs SGD2.50 only, which is cheaper than other stalls in most food courts.
A variety of Yong Tau Foo items are available at this stall and two of my favourites are the deep fried yam rolls and the big (diameter ~ 6cm) button mushrooms.

Here is what I had for my lunch:
What's a pity! The big button mushrooms were out of stock then. :( Hope they're available next time when i visit again.

Guan Yin's Birthday
Today is Guan Yin's (Goddess of Mercy; 观音) birthday. According to the Chinese culture, Guan Yin's birthday is celebrated on the 19th day of the 2nd, 6th and 9th lunar months.
This year, the first Guan Yin's birthday celebration falls on 15 March 2009 (or the 19th day of 2nd lunar month). To celebrate her birthday, many buddhists offer longevity buns (寿桃) to Guan Yin. Besides longevity buns (with lotus seed paste), some buddhists also offer huat kuehs ("prosperity cake"; 发糕) and mee sua (wheat vermicelli; 面线).

Fish Ball Noodles

The signboard for this stall selling fish ball noodles, etc really caught my attention when I passed by it. The name of the stall 爱麺子 which sounds like 爱面子, literally means face-saving when translated into English! However, what it really means is "a liking (爱) for noodles made from wheat (麺)". ;p

Laksa Lemak Tuna Noodles
Inspired by the creativity in Tigerfish's Tom Yam, Tom Yum Noodles, i decided to explore using canned tuna to cook noodles. I picked up Ayam Brand's Laksa Lemak Tuna and also bought some other ingredients like instant noodles, prawns, fish cake and broccoli from the supermarket.

Directions:
1. Boil ~ 300ml of water and then put in the instant noodles and cook for ~ 2 min.
2. Add in the fish cake slices and then slowly add in the Laksa Lemak Tuna and cook for ~ 2 min.
3. Add in the prawns and broccoli which were cooked separately and then serve.
